Conditions we assess

PTSD (post-traumatic stress)

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects veterans and first responders in particular. Some explore medical cannabis, under a licensed practitioner's careful assessment.

Understanding ptsd (post-traumatic stress)

PTSD can follow a traumatic event and show up as flashbacks, hypervigilance, sleep problems and anxiety. First-line management relies on therapy and, as needed, medication and specialized support.

Medical cannabis and ptsd (post-traumatic stress)

Medical cannabis is sometimes considered alongside care for certain PTSD-associated symptoms, cautiously and without replacing mental-health care. For eligible veterans, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) may cover medical cannabis — see our veterans program.

This page is provided for information only and is not medical advice. Medical cannabis is not a first-line treatment and is not right for everyone. Coverleaf does not diagnose and does not guarantee a prescription — eligibility is determined by a licensed practitioner's assessment. In an emergency, call 911.

Questions — PTSD (post-traumatic stress)
Does cannabis cure PTSD?
No. Medical cannabis does not cure PTSD and does not replace mental-health care. Some patients use it for targeted symptoms, on the practitioner's decision.
Am I covered as a veteran?
For eligible veterans, VAC may reimburse medical cannabis under its requirements. We help you through the process.
Does Coverleaf guarantee a prescription?
No. The decision always rests with the practitioner after a clinical assessment. Medical cannabis is not right for everyone.
Is it covered by insurance?
Many private plans, Veterans Affairs (VAC) and the CNESST may cover medical cannabis depending on your situation — see our Insurance page.
