Are you eligible?
Veterans may be eligible for reimbursement through Veterans Affairs Canada when cannabis for medical purposes is authorized by a health care professional and meets VAC requirements. VAC's standard reimbursement framework is based on a maximum of 3 grams per day, with a maximum reimbursement rate of $6.00 per gram. Higher daily quantities may require exceptional approval and specialist documentation.

New VAC 1763 form
For a new pre-authorization request, VAC has published form VAC 1763 since July 16, 2026. A physician or nurse practitioner, where permitted, may complete it for up to 3 grams per day; above 3 grams, VAC requires a medical specialist with expertise related to the condition. Submitting the form does not guarantee reimbursement: VAC makes the decision.
